A new look for Switch edu-ID

It is our pleasure to announce a major innovation. We have completely revised the graphic design and user experience of the edu-ID account management. The login window also appears in the new design.

The edu-ID account management was based on an environment that Switch created for other purposes before edu-ID. After more than 10 years of continuous development, we felt the time had come for a fresh start. We have set ourselves the following goals with the new account management:

    • Improved user experience
    • Modern appearance
    • Improved maintainability of the code
    • Adaptation to the new Switch corporate identity

In order to achieve these goals, a completely new development from scratch was required. Always with the end users in mind, we spent months of intensive work critically scrutinizing, improving or removing every single web page, every interaction process and all forms. We were actively supported by usability experts and professional graphic designers.

The beta version has been tested by the edu-ID community on the publicly accessible site https://test.eduid.ch since May 15th. We have incorporated valuable feedback into the finalization of the account management. Minor adjustments are still to be expected before the final release.

The new account management will be activated on Monday, July 15th on https://eduid.ch. Four days earlier, on July 11th, the login window will be changed to the new design.

The switchover of the login window will not cause a service interruption. The account management activation will cause a downtime for less than one hour. The exact maintenance windows are announced on the edu-ID service status page https://help.switch.ch/eduid/docs/gen/status/

As always, your feedback is welcome via email eduid-support@switch.ch
